It was concluded that there is history of safe and significant consumption before 15 May 1997 of seeds of the plant species Pinus halepensis Mill. However, no relevant information was provided on the safe and significant consumption of green pinecones and bark in foods in the European Union before that date. Therefore, seeds of the plant species Pinus halepensis is not considered as a novel food. However, green pinecones and bark of that plant is considered as novel food.
