| Description | The entry concerns on one hand the use of flowers, seed (achene), seed oil, leaves and flower buds of Helianthus annuus (sunflower) and on the other hand three requests on three products (protein isolate from sunflower seeds, sunflower seed oil - creamy, and high palmitic sunflower oil) submitted following the provisions of Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2018/456. On the first request and according to the conclusion reached by the French competent authorities (DGAL) in response to a request submitted pursuant to the requirements of Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2018/456 (https://ec.europa.eu/food/safety/novel_food/consultation-process_en) on the procedural steps of the consultation process for determination of novel food status, the protein isolate from sunflower seeds ( Helianthus annuus ) is considered novel food. On the second request and according to the conclusion reached by the Italian competent authorities (Ministry of Health) in response to a request submitted pursuant to the requirements of Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2018/456 (https://ec.europa.eu/food/safety/novel_food/consultation-process_en) on the procedural steps of the consultation process for determination of novel food status, the sunflower oil creamy is considered novel food.
