| Fcm recycling scheme summary | Schoeller Allibert (SA) has been producing reusable plastic crates for more than 50 years, for the food industry, for internal transport and storage before further processing or direct use (time and exposure are short). Our products (predominantly made of PP and HDPE) are designed to be used in many use cycles (used, washed) before recycling. SA has production and recycling facilities across Europe for food contact recycling loops. SA has been recycling FC crates from SA and other producers already long before EU-2022/1616 came into force, using a recycling process with a positive EFSA opinion under EC282/2008 (RECY075 for food contact crates produced by SA or other food contact crate producers). The food crates are produced with raw materials suitable for contact with all types of food, and compliance assessments are performed per the applicable legislation. As part of the SA quality control and GMP requirements, the users of the reusable food contact crates need to guarantee the use, cleaning, and storage of the crates in accordance with the food hygiene legislation. Once the crates achieve the end of their lifetime (impossible to repair or customer needs), SA buys back this material to be re-used again.
